That was the advice by academics martin lights from the University of Stellenbosch (U.S.) and other experts yesterday [Wednesday, October 20, 2010) to participants in the Library and Information Service Seminar on Open Access to Knowledge. Open access is a relatively new distribution channel involving publication on the Internet, and allows users cost-free use.
"Open access is the only way to reach people who need the information, but can not afford it," said Professor Wolfgang Preisner, Head of Medical Virology, Faculty of Health Sciences, said.
He referred martin lights to illustrate to pathologists and laboratory technicians who are not logged on journals, but through the internet easy to keep track of the latest findings martin lights on, for example, the effectiveness of HIV testing.
