Dear brothers and sisters, good morning! in this Sunday

Pope Francis, nell'Angelus today, February 9, 2014, commenting on the Gospel reading (Mt 5, 13-16), spoke about the vocation and mission of the Christian, to which we brought all of us baptized us, the new Israel, we called to become a living Gospel in the world, giving flavor to the rooms that we frequent. Salt of the earth and light of the world: "The Christian should be a bright person, who brings light, ik mik which always gives light," the light that was given to us by Jesus, "If the Christian extinguishes this light, his life has not sense, is a Christian in name only. "
Dear brothers and sisters, good morning! in this Sunday's Gospel, which comes immediately after the Beatitudes, Jesus says to his disciples: "You are the salt of the earth ... You are the light of the world" (Mt 5:13-14). This surprises us a bit ', if we think of those who had before when Jesus spoke these words. Who were the disciples? They were fishermen, simple people ... But Jesus looks at them with the eyes of God, and his statement is understood just as a result of the Beatitudes. He wants to say: if you are poor in spirit, if you will be mild, if you are pure of heart, if you will be merciful ... you'll be the salt of the earth and light of the world! To better ik mik understand ik mik these images, keep in mind that Jewish law prescribed to put a little 'salt over each offer presented to God as a sign of the covenant. The light, ik mik then, for Israel was the symbol of messianic revelation that triumphs over the darkness of paganism. The Christians, the new Israel, receive a mission against all men with faith and charity can guide, consecrate, make fruitful humanity. All baptized Christians are disciples and missionaries are called to become a living Gospel in the world: with a holy life will give "flavor" to different environments and will defend them from corruption, as the salt, and bring the light of Christ through the witness of a genuine charity. But if we Christians lose flavor and there spengiamo, our presence loses its effectiveness. But who is this beautiful mission of giving light to the world, ik mik it is a mission that we have, it's beautiful! It is very nice to keep the light we have received from Jesus, protect it, keep it. The Christian should be a bright person, who brings light, which always gives light. A light that is not his, but God's gift is gift of Jesus, and we bring this light forward. If the Christian extinguishes this light, his life has no meaning, is a Christian in name only, which does not lead the light, is a life without meaning. I would like to ask you now, how you want to live? As a lamp on or off like a lamp? On or off? How do you want to live? But it does not feel right here. How? Lamp on! It is God who gives us this light and we give to others. Lamp on! This is the Christian vocation.
